Sakura Foundation is a proud community partner with Asians*in Focus, whose 2020 Asians*Unmasked photo/voice project highlighted the lives of Asians at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their newest initiative, heARTS hope, focuses on mental health awareness and suicide prevention for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. Individuals are invited to tell a story via the art form/creative expression of their choosing to address mental health and/or suicide. The organizers will recognize three of the artistic efforts with $500 awards. The submission deadline is April 15, 2021. We thank and support Sakura Foundation board member DJ Ida and Mirai Generations Leadership Program alumni Allyson Goto and Courtney Ozaki, along with the Asians*in Focus team, for their hard work on this important initiative to destigmatize and provide outreach to mental health issues in our community.
