Sakura Foundation is pleased to announce the members of the MGLP Class of 2023: Drew Matsushima, Tiffany Lin, and Maile Cutter! We look forward to getting to know these young professionals who are enthusiastic, bright and eager to immerse themselves in our Japanese/Japanese American (JA) community, grow their leadership skills and make lifelong connections and friendships.
The 2023 MGLP began on March 9th with a Meet and Greet between the Class of 2023 and the MGLP alumni. An overview of the program content was provided, as well as great conversations and delicious appetizers. The program runs through July when there will be a celebratory lunch and reflective presentations from the current class.
Here are some anticipatory thoughts from the Class of 2023 as they begin the MGLP:
“Through the MGLP, I hope to continue to grow and develop my ability to lead and serve in my community. Furthermore, I am hopeful to build new relationships and opportunities to apply what I have learned.” –Drew Matsushima
“As a new resident of Colorado I joined MGLP to become more connected and involved in the Japanese American community here in Denver. I hope to gain leadership skills to better spread awareness and conversation about culture and personal experiences. Japan and Japanese culture have been a huge part of my life that I have begun to lose touch with and having a safe space with like-minded people to learn with and from has been really special to me. This program is the first step to me becoming an active supporting voice for the Japanese American community.” –Maile Cutter
“Networking, a sense of community, people to do things with, more knowledge, woo!” -Tiffany Lin
Welcome to the MGLP Class of 2023!
