Whew – what a weekend! Sakura Foundation and Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple co-presented the 49th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival on June 17th and 18th at Sakura Square. It takes many months of planning and many hands to present a festival of this size. It brings us great pleasure and pride to share our Japanese and Japanese American culture and heritage with so many people in the Rocky Mountain Region. Sakura Square was filled with deliciously delectable Japanese cuisine, exciting and entertaining performances of music, dance, and martial arts on the Live Stage, and an eclectic array of Japanese-themed marketplace vendors.
As our largest annual fundraiser, the success of the festival allows us to offer meaningful programs such as the Mirai Generations Leadership Program and Chibi no Gakkō (our cultural heritage school for 1st-8th grade), cultural events, community grants, and scholarships for graduating high school seniors. We are truly grateful to have such a supportive and generous community who assist us by volunteering, making donations, providing sponsorships, and attending the event!
